Part II: Table Game Cheating · Dice & Craps Cheating Methods

Dice Sliding (Basic Two-Dice Slide)

Controlled ShootingSkill: Professional

How it works

The shooter slides both dice across the table simultaneously without tumbling them, maintaining the pre-arranged faces upward throughout the entire throw. Unlike popular belief, sliding both dice without any rotation is actually unstable and tends to cause dice to trip or flip. The shooter sets the desired combination (typically a winning hardway or field bet combination) and pushes the dice forward with minimal spin. Success depends on a smooth felt surface and avoiding obstacles.

On the record

In Skipper v. State (Nevada 1994), Hubert Preston Skipper was convicted when the Nevada Supreme Court ruled that dice sliding constitutes illegal cheating under NRS 465.083 because it “supplants elements of chance with surreptitious conduct.”
